India Firm on No Mediation: PM Modi Clarifies to Donald Trump Over Call

In a significant diplomatic conversation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated India’s longstanding stance on Kashmir during a phone call with former U.S. President Donald Trump. PM Modi stated clearly that India has never accepted, nor will it ever accept, any third-party mediation in the matter.
The discussion reportedly touched upon various regional and global issues, but the focal point became the sensitive topic of Kashmir. PM Modi emphasized that the matter is strictly bilateral between India and Pakistan, in line with the Shimla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration.
This statement comes in response to earlier remarks where Donald Trump had claimed that PM Modi had requested U.S. mediation—a claim that was swiftly denied by Indian officials. The Ministry of External Affairs reaffirmed that no such request was ever made and that India’s policy on the matter remains unchanged.
This latest communication reaffirms India’s consistent foreign policy approach and seeks to prevent any confusion on the global stage regarding its position on Kashmir.
